Survival Sign Language

This workshop will help you learn the basic American Sign Language (ASL) to converse with deaf and hard of hearing persons in various settings.  You will learn the basics deaf culture dos and don’ts and some non-verbal communication that goes hand-in-hand with ASL.  This will be a fun, interactive, hands-on workshop that will have you wanting to learn more!  The instructor will improvise the workshop to fit the audience’s particular needs.

For nearly 100 years, media outlets in the United States have been mandated by Congress to uphold certain public interest obligations, but for the last couple of decades they have been failing to live up to these obligations.  Big media’s corporate consolidation and congressional lobbying have resulted in a media landscape that no longer represents the public interest.  What is at stake if media continues to put profits ahead of the public and what can be done about it?
